Mexico Operations Associate

This position reports to the Head of Operations in Mexico. The role of this position is assuring the perfect working by contacting mainly the middle and back offices of the Authorized Participants to facilitate the mechanism of creation/redemption of iShares. Also will assure the correct performance and reporting of BGI’s vendors for iShares’ Trustees; putting special attention and support to Nafin relationship, set up and further improvements.
Primary Responsibilities
Understand and supervise Nafin’s internal procedures and reports guaranteeing transparency and a correct administration of Naftac trust.
Facilitate implementation of a work plan with Nafin, allowing and managing changes in procedures and workflows among the stakeholders (Nafin, SSB and BGI’s) in order to have lean and automated processes which comply with BGI’s internal policies.
Collect/create required documentation for Trustee and other relevant vendors in order to maintain updated risk assessment and fulfill BGI’s Vendor Management requirements.
Grant support and surveillance for daily iShares operations, including but not limited to creations, redemptions, collateral postings, data/files distribution.
Administer/manage BGI’s Mexico providers, setting up accounts, reviewing invoices and creating the necessary files for BGINA and Impulsora’s accounting processes.
Support Operadora’s project collecting and providing all necessary information for the creation of operative manuals.
Facilitate implementation of securities lending for domestic ETFs, coordinating a time plan with all stakeholders.
Define and follow up on activities and responsibilities among service providers for Mexican domiciled iShares.
Work on new products with the different parties and with the Product Mgmt team in SF. Watch for website update; check out the business information flow.
Requirements/Attributes
Ability to create processes and monitor their execution throughout third parties.
Understanding of operations and the different roles involved in the Asset Management business in Mexico and USA.
Knowledge of clearing and settlement processes in the securities market in Mexico, as well as pricing mechanisms.
Working experience with an International firm in Latin America with understanding of the compliance and regulatory framework for both USA and Latin American countries.
Good verbal, written communication and presentation skills.
Hands on individual with high energy, motivated, and commitment to excellence.
Ability to work in a matrix team environment is critical.
Qualifications
Background in Business Administration, Economics, Engineering and related areas.
MBA or CFA certification highly desirable.
Minimum 4 years experience in banks, broker/dealers, asset managers with operations (middle and back-office). Experience working in sales support function a plus.
Native Spanish speaker with oral and written fluency in English.
Experience working at International/Multinational firm in Latin America with understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements of securities industry.
